In June 2018, the Minister for Education requested a review of the Victorian College for the Deaf.

In response to this request, an independent review of the Victorian College for the Deaf will be undertaken by the Department of Education and Training (the Department) to examine the professional practice of the College and determine ways of improving outcomes for all students enrolled.

The review will be undertaken by a trained school reviewer and overseen by a panel chaired by an independent expert, with representation from the Deaf community and the Inclusive Education Professional Practice Branch of the Department. Additional expert advice will be provided by the Victorian Deaf Education Institute.

Since the announcement of the review, the Department has been working to assemble a panel of people with the expertise and experience to conduct a thorough review that will position the College for success well into the future.
