Expression Australia Family Day

Ausland Day 2021 3598 v1 current

The community, their family and friends all turned up to enjoy a fantastic day out at the Expression Australia Family Day at Melbourne Museum. We had over 350 registered attendees who got to enjoy Auslan tours, storytime, pop-up classes and a sign choir workshop.

All activities were accessible for Deaf and hearing families as they were led by Deaf tutors and presenters in Auslan and interpreted into English.

Activities included:

  • Pop-up Auslan classes led by Kylie Beasley
  • Auslan storytelling led by Kerrie Taylor
  • Sign choir workshop led by Julia Murphy
  • Auslan tour with Shirley Liu and Natasha Ravlich

Attendees also got to enjoy a free drink, icecream and goodie bag that included crayons, colouring pencils, a wristband and a mug for the parents to use.

We also launched Auslan Anywhere, an interactive platform that connects Creators (fluent Auslan users) and Learners, so that Learners can request Auslan content from Creators. This allows creators to contribute to the learning of Auslan. If you would like to get invoved, you can sign up as a Learner or Creator by clicking the button below.
