Victoria records 1,534 new local COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths

  • Victoria has recorded 1,534 new cases and the seven-day average has continued to fall
  • The death toll from the current Delta outbreak in Victoria has grown to 247
  • Only 83 per cent of Victorians in their 20s have received one dose of the vaccine

Unvaccinated tennis players are only allowed into Australia if exempted.

  • The federal government says unvaccinated tennis players will be allowed into Australia, but states must request an exemption.
  • Victoria's Premier says his state will not seek exemptions for unvaccinated tennis players to enter the country ahead of the Australian Open.

Fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed to leave Australia on Monday.

  • The federal government has removed the need for fully vaccinated Australians to ask for permission to leave the country from Monday, but those who are unvaccinated will still have to ask for an exemption if they want to leave.
  • People will need to prove they have received two doses of an approved vaccine
  • From Monday, Australians returning from overseas will not have to quarantine at all in New South Wales
  • As for those who have not been vaccinated, they will still have to apply to leave the country and say why they want to travel.
  • They will also be subject to passenger caps when they return to Australia and undertake 14 days in hotel quarantine.
