Deaf Expo 2018 a Success

The Deaf Expo presented by Expression Australia and Melbourne Polytechnic at Melbourne Town Hall on Saturday November 10, 2018 was a huge success with over 500 people in attendance throughout the day.

There were over 25 stall holders providing information about services and technologies relevant to deafness. This included information about education, employment, hearing aids, assistive devices communication, sign language, technology, hearing loss prevention, sports, health, government services and more.

With roving interpreters available throughout the Expo, stall holders such as the Victorian Electoral Commssion, the NDIS and My Health Record were able to communcate and answer questions from the Deaf community.

Attendees were able to collect brochures and leaflets using free Expression Australia tote bags provided upon entering the Town Hall and were treated to free coffee all day.

Deaf Expo Coordinator David Peters would like to thank all the staff, volunteers and stall holders for their participation as well as the Event sponsors: Expression Australia, Melbourne Polytechnic, Conexu Foundation, Word of Mouth Technology, Cochlear Limited, Australian Hearing, Victorian Electoral Commission and the Victorian Deaf Education Institute.
