Improving Access in Hospitals for Deaf and hard of hearing

Expression Australia and Deaf Victoria partnered together in 2020 to work on improving access in hospitals for Deaf and hard of hearing Victorians.

Together, they created a survey that focused on collecting Deaf and hard of hearing people’s experiences accessing hospitals and healthcare services, as well as barriers, bad experiences, and good experiences too. The survey was able to be filled in English, or via 1:1 session in Auslan. The survey received over 80 respondents, with valuable insight and information that will go towards Expression Australia and Deaf Victoria advocacy work.

We are proud of the work Expression Australia and Deaf Victoria and the impact it will have on Deaf and hard of hearing Victorian’s. We look forward to seeing their work come into fruition throughout the year.
