Expression provides Auslan interpretation to the Victorian Parliament’s apology to care leavers
On the 8th of February 20204, Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan formally apologised to Victorians who experienced historical abuse and neglect as children in institutional care.
From 1928 to 1990 around 90,000 children were taken from their families and put into state institutional care where they suffered many forms of abuse. Those who were impacted will receive compensation through a redress scheme which will be established this year.
As part of our ongoing relationship with Victorian Parliament, Expression provided Auslan interpreting services for this historical speech. You can view the speech in full below, and see the press release from the Victorian Parliament here.
