Types of Services
Providing interpreting services between Australian Sign Language (Auslan) and English. All Auslan interpreters are accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and hold either Professional or Paraprofessional qualifications.
Providing Deaf Interpreters who repeat, or relay, a message from Auslan into a highly visual form of communication that can be understood by sign language users who do not use standard Auslan.
Through a partnership with Bradley Reporting, we provide remote and onsite live captioning services to Deaf and hard of hearing clients for a wide range of settings including, but not limited to, courts, conferences, educational settings and workplace meetings. Live captioning can be viewed on a range of devices including PCs, laptops, tablets and smart phones.
Providing notetakers to take notes at events and meetings, either when a Deaf or hard of hearing person is present, or as a mechanism to record proceedings.
Video Remote (VRI) and Skype Interpreting
VRI and Skype Interpreting provides Auslan and spoken language interpreting over the internet, using portable devices such as computers, laptops or tablets and enables the interpreter to be accessible from anywhere, interpreting the conversation between the Deaf and hearing person via webcam.
We are an experienced provider of funeral interpreting. Following the introduction of the NDIS, the cost of funeral interpreting is now predominantly covered through participants’ plans. In instances where Deaf people are ineligible for NDIS funding or there are other special circumstances Expression Australia may provide the service free of charge. Emergency After Hours Interpreting
We provide an emergency after hours interpreting service. For bookings call (03) 9473 1174 – please note: fees apply. Read below first.
All bookings received outside business hours that require interpreting services prior to the next day of business are considered an emergency after hours interpreting service. After hours are: 5.00pm – 9.00am weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Please note that the minimum call out fee is $310.00 (GST inclusive) and the hourly rate is $170 per hour. Once the terms and conditions have been discussed and agreed to, the minimum charge will apply unless an interpreter cannot be sourced. It is the responsibility of the organisation making the booking to pay for this service. It must not be passed onto the individual.
