Team Leader, Employment

Role overview:

We are searching for a new Team Leader to lead and grow the Expression Employment Service (Disability Employment Service, School Leavers employment Service and NDIS employment supports)

The Team Leader, Employment works closely with the Manager, Employment to identify and implement strategies to support the organisation achieve its strategic objectives to broaden our impact and grow and develop our Deaf community through education and employment options. This role will also be responsible for monitoring and adhering to compliance and is required to support a case load of participants.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role such as Disability Employment Services or Equity/Disability Liaison Support, or other relevant case management or social work experience. Recruitment skills or a background with working with other communities who face barriers to equality and inclusion is highly regarded also.

In addition, knowledge of Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities, Auslan is advantageous.

This position is based at both the Expression Australia Head Office and Preston Employment Office

Role Focus:

  • Lead and support a team of Employment Consultants including supervision, coaching, capability building to achieve individual and team objectives to support clients needs
  • Undertake compliance monitoring and reporting such as star ratings, compliance to DES and other Grant agreements.
  • Manage a caseload of participants to achieve their vocational goals including: pre and post placement support, on the job support, and resolving workplace issues where required.
  • Work with the Manager, Employment to partner with organisations and education providers to create opportunities and future pipelines for participants and the Employment Service

Skills Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience (min 4 years) in Disability Employment Services or relevant field such as NDIS or social work
  • Demonstrated experience training and mentoring staff, in particular in a KPI driven environment
  • Positive, resilient, and flexible nature able to deal with a wide range of people and situations
  • Advanced understanding of Disability Employment Services eligibility criteria, compliance, and quality frameworks
  • Sound understanding of navigating government programs including Services Australia
  • Solution focused attitude and a flexible team player with initiative to drive projects
  • Proven ability to grow business through market engagement
  • Ability to work positively in a constantly changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of Deaf culture and disability sector highly desired
  • Fluency in Auslan or previous experience working in a Culturally and Lingusitic Diverse (CALD) workplace
