CEO Nicky Long visits Tasmania!

On Thursday 4 March 2021, our CEO Nicky Long flew to Tasmania to meet the Deaf community across two fantastic community events in Hobart.

On Saturday night, Expression Australia hosted a social dinner for the community with 47 people attending and enjoying the festive atmosphere at the Beltana Hotel.

This was followed on Sunday with another social event at Legacy Park on the Queens Domain in Hobart where a wood-fired pizza roast lunch was enjoyed with 65 people attending.

A cake was cut to celebrate the six community members who turned 80 last year or will be turning 80 this year.

Community members said they were thrilled to see each other after such a long break during the pandemic.

Throughout Nicky’s visit to Tasmania, she also had the opportunity to meet Terese Smith and Courtney Hurworth at Department of Communities Tasmania and Catherine Viney, the State Manager of Baptcare.

During her time in Tasmania, Nicky was thrilled to meet Expression Australia’s Tasmanian staff at the Launceston and Hobart offices and thanked them for their exceptional work.

We are already busy making plans for next year’s get together that will happen in Tasmania’s north.
