Deaf Awareness is not about compliance or ticking boxes. It is about how communication happens in real life, how systems are designed, and how inclusion is practised every day.

Our Deaf Awareness & Communication Training (DACT) is delivered by certified Deaf trainers and is grounded in lived experience. The training supports individuals and organisations in better understanding Deaf culture, improving everyday communication, and creating environments where Deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind people can participate fully and confidently. DACT is practical, reflective, and focused on meaningful change.

About DACT and the different packages

DACT is a structured suite of training options, allowing organisations to choose the depth and format that best suits their needs. While all DACT packages share the same foundations - Deaf culture, respectful communication, and inclusive practice - each package differs in duration, delivery mode, and focus.

DACT 1 - Comprehensive DACT 2 - Comprehensive (Hybrid) DACT 3 - Introduction
This is the most in-depth face-to-face option, delivered over a full day. It provides a thorough exploration of Deaf culture, communication barriers, and practical strategies for inclusion. Participants engage in group discussions, hands-on activities, and applied Auslan practice. This package is ideal for workplaces, schools, and community organisations seeking a strong foundation and lasting impact. This option combines face-to-face training with online learning. It covers the same core content as DACT 1 but is designed for organisations needing greater flexibility. Participants complete part of the learning online while still benefiting from interactive, in-person sessions. This package suits busy professionals balancing multiple commitments. DACT 3 provides a shorter, focused introduction to Deaf awareness and communication. It is ideal for organisations or individuals new to Deaf awareness who want a clear overview of Deaf culture, respectful terminology, and practical communication tips without committing to a full-day program.

DACT 4 - eLearning Subscription DACT 5 - EAF Package DACT 6 - EAF & Workplace integration Package
This self-paced online option allows participants to complete Deaf awareness training at their convenience. It includes videos, quizzes, and interactive content that introduce Deaf culture, communication strategies, and inclusive practices. This package is particularly suitable for large organisations, onboarding programs, or individuals with limited availability. This face-to-face package focuses on workplace accessibility and practical solutions for inclusion. It includes activities such as environmental audits and real-world case studies and is delivered under the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF). This option is well-suited to employers supporting Deaf employees in the workplace. This is the most comprehensive workplace-focused option. It combines Deaf Awareness training with Workplace Integration training and includes role-plays, real-life scenarios, and team-based activities. Delivered under the EAF, this package supports organisations to embed inclusive communication practices across teams and systems.
