Financial Controller

Role overview:

With a new Strategic Plan for 2021 – 2024 Expression Australia is continuing its trajectory of significant change and growth! Expression Australia is seeking a motivated, process driven Financial Controller to join the Corporate Services team to continue to lead finance and accounting processes and standards within our bilingual and bicultural not-for-profit organisation!

Reporting to the General Manager, Enterprize Services, this role is a great opportunity for someone who is driven to create a continuous improvement environment and passionate about strengthen finance and accounting processes and capability across the Corporate Services and wider organisation.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for financial accounting processes, controls, reporting and budgeting, as well as preparing audited financial statements and compliance with taxation and funding requirements.

The Financial Controller will lead a small bilingual and bicultural finance team and be responsible for development of financial process and control skills.

This position is a 12-month full time control, based in East Melbourne with flexible working arrangements available.

Role Focus:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the monthly accounting process cycle ensuring compliance to accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and enhance monthly reconciliation processes and program/project accounting processes
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, preparation of annual financial statement and management of audit process.
  • Enhance financial acumen across the organisation through business partnering.

Skills Essential:

  • High degree of knowledge and experience in the application of accounting standards, specifically those relating to Not-for-Profit Entities, Revenue from contracts and Accounting for Leases.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in end-to-end business processes in particular Finance functions, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting
  • CPA or CA Qualified
